Hawthorn Class is a class of 22 Year 4 children, taught by Mr McDonald and Mrs Henderson. On a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, Mrs Cullen teaches the class.
This Term
Hawthorn Class will be learning about The Lake District in topics: ‘Off to The Lakes’ and ‘How Does your Garden Grow?’. During this topic we shall develop our location knowledge in the UK, geographical skills and fieldwork, focus on the water cycle and food produce. Our English work will firstly be focusing on story openings based around the text ‘The Last Bear’ and later we shall be reading Macavity: The Mystery Cat and enjoy learning all about poetry.
RE this term will focus on Rules for Living and explore various faiths.
PE days this term are Wednesday for swimming and Friday. Please send your child in Active Uniform on these days.
Spellings have been given out for the half term. Check the rule and use the spelling strategy that suits you to help learn the rule and words. These are practiced in school and please find time to practice these at home too. Please see the attachment if you need a second look. No Nonsense Y4 Block 5

Reading is vitally important to your child’s learning so please find the time to read and discuss your child’s book with them at least three times a week.
