Hawthorn Class

Hawthorn Class is a class of 22 Year 4 children, taught by Mr McDonald and Mrs Henderson. On a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, Mr Kelly teaches the class.

This Term

Hawthorn Class will be learning about the Awesome Egyptians. During this topic we shall travel back over 5,000 years to investigate the lives of the Ancient Egyptian gods, the pharaohs and their slaves. The class will make comparisons between rivers including the River Nile. Our Literacy work will link to our topic and we will be studying the novel, ‘There is a Pharaoh in our Bath’ by Jeremy Strong. Through this, we will be writing for a range of different purposes and developing our spelling, punctuation and grammar skills. Later in the term, we will base our writing around the story ‘Rumaysa‘ by Radiya Hafiza.

RE this term will focus on David and the Psalms and in the second half of the term, Christmas.

PE days this term are Wednesday for swimming and Thursday. Please send your child in Active Uniform on these days.

Spellings have been given out for the half term. Check the rule and use the spelling strategy that suits you to help learn the rule and words. These are practiced in school and a Look, Cover, Write, Check sheet will also be given each week. Please see the attachment if you need a second look. No Nonsense Y4 Block 1
